The Zaanse Schans is a neighbourhood of windmills in the municipality of Zaanstad in North Holland, located on the Zaan, directly opposite Zaandijk and next to the Juliana Bridge. It is a well-known open-air attraction with around 900,000 visitors each year. Formally, it is not a museum. It is, however, set up with the intention of preserving its historical heritage.
