About ‘The Selves We Carry’ by Vineet Suresh

The Selves We Carry explores the idea that we are made up of many different versions of ourselves. Our experiences, memories and emotions shape who we become, yet every stage of our life continues to exist somewhere within us. I wanted to capture that feeling by combining two figures into one form, connected by a dark silhouette filled with stars.

The two figures face in different directions, suggesting the contrast between who we were and who we are becoming. The flowing shape through the centre acts as both a separation and a connection, reminding us that these different parts of ourselves cannot exist independently. The deep red background adds warmth and intensity, creating an atmosphere that feels both reflective and emotional.

I created this piece by blending digital collage with painterly textures. I enjoy combining realistic subjects with abstract elements because it allows familiar ideas to feel open to interpretation. Rather than telling a specific story, I wanted to create an image that encourages viewers to think about their own experiences and how they have changed over time.

I see this artwork as a reminder that growth is not about leaving old versions of ourselves behind. Instead, we carry them with us, allowing them to shape who we become. I hope it brings a sense of reflection and becomes a meaningful piece in a space where people can pause, look closely and find their own interpretation.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
