Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.
The artwork appears at its true size, so you cannot scale it in AR. Want a different size? Close AR and pick the size on the product page.
Still nothing? Open this page in Chrome or Safari. AR does not work in the browser of apps such as Instagram or Facebook.

About ‘The Silent Hunter – Kingfisher’ by Oeds en Hilda Adema

The silent hunter – Kingfisher

From the tranquillity of a bird hide, we photographed this colourful kingfisher. We waited patiently until he perched on the wooden branch. His demeanour is calm, but his gleaming eye betrays that he is scanning the water intently for a fish.

The combination of the bright blue plumage, the warm orange breast and the soft green background makes this image special. If you look closely, you can see the fine details in the feathers, the tiny glint of light in the eye and the sturdy little feet with which the bird clings to the branch.

Our inspiration comes from the beauty and tranquillity of nature. A kingfisher usually only makes a brief appearance. It was precisely that fleeting moment we wanted to capture: the stillness just before this swift hunter dives into the water.

The photograph was taken from a bird hide using a telephoto lens, so as not to disturb the kingfisher. We carefully focused on the eye. Due to the shallow depth of field, the background naturally became soft and blurred, making the bird stand out beautifully against its surroundings.

For us, this photograph symbolises patience, tranquillity and wonder. Sometimes you have to wait a long time for a special moment, but when everything comes together, the wait is absolutely worth it.

Thanks to its natural colours and tranquil feel, this piece fits beautifully in a living room, study, bedroom or nature-inspired interior. It is an atmospheric eye-catcher for bird lovers, nature lovers and anyone who would like to bring a special piece of Dutch nature into their home.
