This hypnotic work takes the viewer into the world-famous tunnel of torii gates of the Fushimi Inari-taisha in Kyoto, Japan. This is the main temple of the Inari shrines, dedicated to the god of rice and prosperity.
The work captures the unique experience of walking through the 'senbon torii' (thousand torii), where hundreds of bright orange-red and black pillars surround the visitor. The rows of gates create a dramatic perspective and an optical illusion of an endless corridor, with the softly lit stone route leading to the top of Mount Inari.
The dark undertones and mysterious atmosphere make this work a powerful and colourful representation of Japanese spiritual culture. It is a must-have for lovers of Japan, travel photography and dramatic architecture.
