The Tower of Our Lady was probably built by the Catholic Church between 1444 and 1470. This is not entirely certain, as the building records were destroyed in 1579 during the iconoclasm. The tower and the adjacent church then came into Protestant hands.
From then on, the church took on various functions and was used as a laboratory and gunpowder store, among other things. A careless laboratory worker caused the church to explode in 1787, leaving only a ruin, which was completely demolished in 1806. In 1986, the original outline of this church was installed in the square in front of the tower.
