About ‘The Wadden’ by Aurélie Lestingi

The Wadden area unfolds as an open, breathing landscape in which water, air and land constantly change places. The horizon is low and wide, making the space dominated by silence and light. Traces in the mud and subtle colour changes in water and air tell of movement that is not immediately visible but always present.
The photograph emphasises the slowness and simplicity of the landscape. The absence of clear boundaries draws the eye outwards, into the picture, towards a horizon that is never fixed.
