The Battle of Grolle
Once every two years, the fortified town of Groenlo is renamed Grolle.
A battle took place here in 1627 during the 80-year war between the State army and the Spanish.
The State army was led by Prince Frederik Hendrik and consisted of 20,000 foot soldiers and 5,000 horsemen.
