About "The bearer of the burning heart"

by Klaus Tesching

About the artwork

Barefoot, she stands in a stone bowl full of dark water, surrounded by golden fish that seem to swim through the air - bearers of small miracles that rebel against every rule of nature. She holds a heavy iron lantern in her upraised hand - a blazing heart locked inside, pulsating and alive, as if it were more than a symbol, more than flesh: a promise.

Her dress is richly patterned, a fabric of memory, grief and dignity. The pattern is like an encrypted code, woven from past lives. Around her kneel figures carved in stone - weeping, gilded in their tears. Not broken, but marked. Witnesses or victims? Gods or the fallen?

A dark sky circles above her, streaked with lightning bolts that seem like thoughts that can no longer be held. And yet: her gaze is clear, her stance firm. She carries her heart not out of sentimentality, but out of obligation.

"The Bearer of the Burning Heart" is an image of courage in the midst of the shaken. It does not stand for redemption, but for responsibility. For the will to carry what is essential - even when it is burning, even when no one is looking.

A parable of humanity when everything else turns to stone.
