Bee-eaters live mainly in warm parts of Europe, but successful breeding bee-eaters have also been observed in the Netherlands. Bee-eaters eat insects and are agile flyers. In flight, they catch larger insects. They are mainly found near steep walls of water; rivers, ponds and lakes, where they dig a nest tunnel in a steep wall.
