The crossing is a bridge over the river Waal near Nijmegen. It was opened in 2013 to relieve traffic over the old Waal bridge. Every evening the bridge lights come on step by step in commemoration of the soldiers who crossed the
Waal river during the Second World War to liberate the Netherlands.
