The desert is slowly taking possession of this town. In some villas the sand is meters high and you have to be careful not to bump your head on the ceilings.
The German settlers settled in Kolmanskop when precious diamonds were found here in 1908. In its heyday, the village housed more than 700 families. When the diamond price dropped at the end of the First World War an exodus followed and in 1956 the last inhabitants left. A ghost town is born...
