About ‘The elements’ by Hans Lok

Three hundred and fifty years ago, the dike last broke at this spot, flooding the land behind it. Still the water sloshes against the dike broken by the stones that at the edge between dike and water break the force of the water and thereby protect the land. It is the unchanging basic elements of life that come together here. Always the same but also always different. The fire of the sun reflected in the water. Shimmering and mirrored by the movement of the waves. The water that is always there but that takes on the colour of the sky, the air and is moved by the wind. The waves break on the heavy natural stone boulders that protect the foot of the dyke and are the boundary of land and water. Strong and indestructible for centuries. It never bores in all its simplicity. The foundation of life. The elements of our existence.

My great loves are the water and everything about it. Ships, travel, history and photography. The combination is therefore very common in my photographic work. Most photographs are created intuitively. It is an image that strikes me, usually a combination of form and color in which a part of reality is framed into an image. The result is a fitting form.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
