The footbridge is a picture taken on the Grimselpass. The Grimselpass forms the connection between the Swiss cantons of Bern (Innertkirchen) and Wallis (Gletsch) and is a watershed between the North Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. The current pass road was built in 1894. It used to be an important link between northern Switzerland and Italy, together with the southern Griespas. The height of the pass is 2,165 meters.
