The Griffon Vulture keeps an eye on everything.
It makes good use of its wings. Originally from southern Europe, it regularly comes over the Netherlands.
Often flies in large groups, sometimes up to dozens of specimens.
Quite large wingspan to +/- 2.75 - 2.80 mtr.
Weight between 6 and 11 kg.
Seriously big bird.
Searches for carcasses of cattle, goats, sheep etc. from great heights.
In these images the neck is clearly visible, largely few feathers, after all they go into the carcass with their head.
And a large feather pack would then only get in the way.
Magnificently photogenic birds, I am impressed every time I see them.
There are also many zoos that have them in their collection, definitely worth a visit.
