About the artwork
It is 770 metres long, the granite breakwater at the entrance to the harbour of Deauville, the most fashionable seaside resort on the Flower Coast. The tidal range on the English Channel is up to 16 metres and sets the pace for all skippers calling at the Port of Deauville. The entrance is a passage between two worlds.
On the port side Trouville greets you on the port side with its old alleyways climbing up the hillside, while on the starboard side the small coastal river Touques leads to the Vieux Port de Deauville. Sleek Bénéteau yachts are moored there, sailing dreams in France's national colours of blue, white and red. Two black and white striped towers mark the lock to the inner harbour.
