I took this photo on the Wadden island of Schiermonnikoog. The lighthouse is still the only lighthouse on the island that still works, it is the Noordertoren that is red. It is still a beacon at night for shipping traffic. In the tower, the weather forecast for shipping is said to be made. In the foreground, you can still see a piece of a dike and a footpath leading to the North Sea beach, you can even see a piece of a house next to the lighthouse. There is also a radar on the tower to spot shipping on the North Sea as the Wadden Sea so that traffic control knows where the ships are.
