The Siq, the narrow gorge leading to the ancient city of Petra, takes on a timeless allure in black and white. The rock faces, sculpted by erosion, seem even more majestic in this monochrome palette. This narrow passage, around 1.2 km long, evokes an ancient mystery, as if every nook and cranny held the secrets of the Nabataeans. The play of light and shadow adds a dramatic dimension to the details of the stones, emphasising their texture and relief. In black and white, the geological strata are revealed with an almost graphic intensity, reinforcing the impression of being immersed in a world frozen in time. The sinuous curves of the Siq, sometimes open to the sky and sometimes narrow, offer an immersive experience imbued with spirituality. When you reach the end of the canyon, you can see the imposing façade of the Treasury (Al-Khazneh), a sight that emerges like a reward after this almost mystical journey.
