The Silence Between Sisters
Two souls flattened side by side,
in silence, gentle, unguided.
Their eyes lowered silent,
as if life sweet nor will.
The one cloaked in beige soft,
carries sadness like an ancient splendour.
Her hands empty, her heart full of splendour
Of what once was, now brought silent.
The other in a dark robe,
her neck like newly woven sorrow.
A crown of lines, sleek and fine,
hides her storm from deep within
No look, no word, no touch,
yet a close connection.
A thread running through the silence,
spun from what was once hoped for.
Perhaps a promise, old and silent,
a choice beyond one's own will.
Perhaps a debt, perhaps a treasure,
that only she had hidden.
So they stand there, frozen as an image,
time gone by, their youth lost.
But whoever looks closely sees in that splendour
the love that waits in silence.
