About "The silence"

About the artwork

A white skull on black lava.

So much devastation, so much silence. So much beauty.

I found this sheep skull on the lava field close to our cottage. So much beauty in that black-looking endless plain of an ancient lava field to find such'a snow-white skull.

So in the early morning light, I photographed this work. The deep contrast touches me every time I look at it. A beautiful clean skull against all that black from the lava of the Kilauea volcano.

In my eyes, it is a story that on the one hand says a lot, but at the same time contains a lot of silence. That questions existence, but also gives peace in the space of not answering that question.

That gives room for silence. For reflection. For peace. A calm that comes after the eruption of violence that can result from a volcano. In which it takes and takes and takes, but after which also comes the long silence.

When the lava has hardened, the calm has returned, comes the long haul of recovery. Of building new fertile earth. But in reflection to what once was.

That is what this work symbolises for me.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers. Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
