The silent noise by Eric Boer

Sometimes, a sense of focus actually emerges at moments when everything around you is chaotic. This work was created during a period of great change and hustle and bustle. I found that, during the creative process, I became increasingly at peace, whilst the outside world remained in constant flux.

In *The Silent Noise*, lines, geometric shapes and repetition come together. The large circle and triangle are the first to catch the eye, but as you look longer, you discover more and more lines and structures that criss-cross and intertwine. The eye in the centre forms a calm focal point amidst all the movement.

The work was created digitally in Procreate, without me knowing exactly what the final composition would look like beforehand. Through concentration and intuition, I built up the image layer by layer. By repeating lines and layering different structures, shapes and colours on top of one another, a greater sense of cohesion gradually emerged.

For me, *De stille ruis* is about finding focus when there is a lot going on around you. It’s about how something that seems chaotic from the outside can still bring a sense of calm from within.

Through the combination of dark tones, subtle colours and powerful geometric shapes, it is a piece in which you can always discover something new. An image that has a presence in an interior, yet at the same time leaves room for your own interpretation.
