Under the blue skies of Yogyakarta, the majestic Candi Sewu, one of the oldest Buddhist temples in the Prambanan complex, stands with quiet strength. In the foreground, two powerful guardian statues, sculpted from volcanic stone, seem to stand eternal watch over the central sanctuary. Their imposing posture and impassive gaze symbolise the protection of the sacred place from harmful influences.
Built in the VIIIᵉ century under the Sailendra dynasty, the Sewu temple bears witness to the spiritual and architectural wealth of the ancient kingdom of Central Java. Despite centuries and earthquakes, its finely chiselled structures continue to inspire respect and contemplation.
The perspective of the photo, centred on the alleyway leading to the temple, guides the eye towards the main tower, which rises towards the clouds like a bridge between the earth and the divine. Between shadow and light, stone and sky, this scene evokes the perfect balance between human strength and the spiritual dimension.
Passionate about photography, I travel the world in search of the most beautiful shots.
