About the artwork

With the full colors of spring.
A beautiful red tulip, and a deep blue sky.

The Netherlands is famous for its cultivated tulips and is one of the main exporting countries of tulips and tulip bulbs. Traditionally in the spring at Keukenhof in Lisse made an exhibition of millions of tulips, which is especially well frequented by tourists. In addition, buses full of tourists come to look at the tulip fields. Best known are the more traditional fields along the dunes of South Holland and the West Frisian polders. The majority of the tulip, however, is to be found in Flevoland, particularly in the North East (more than 2000 ha). Also in the Northern sandy area of ??North Holland (environment Breezand Anna Paulowna and Julianadorp) and can be found on the Goeree-Overflakkee island there are tulip fields. In the North Holland village of Limmen is the Hortus Bulborum established the largest gene bank in the world for bulbs. In this garden are more than 3500 different kinds of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and other mostly historical spring bulbs.
