Elephants are the largest land animals in the world. They are highly social and have a phenomenal memory.
Unfortunately, they are threatened by ivory poaching and they are given less and less space.
Elephants communicate via infrasounds that carry for miles. A fun fact they recognise themselves in a mirror. This is a sign of self-awareness.
Elephants can live up to 70 years.
A pregnancy lasts 22 months!
Herds are led by old females
Elephants like to swim and can use their trunks as snorkels.
They live in forests, grasslands, hills, dense rainforests and open savannahs
I can't help but have always had a soft spot for these animals. The look in their eyes always does something to me.
