About ‘Through the window of time’ by Frank Photos

In an old Newar house in Nepal, an elderly woman enjoys the first rays of the morning sun. Behind a finely carved wooden window, emblematic of the traditional architecture of the Kathmandu Valley, her weathered face captures the gentle morning heat.
The Newars, the indigenous people of the region, are renowned for their rich cultural heritage and fine craftsmanship. The carved wood framing the window is a fine example of this, evoking skills handed down from generation to generation. In the golden light, the contrast between the shadows of the past and the brilliance of the present is striking. This scene captures both nostalgia and tranquillity, the harmony between tradition and everyday life.
The moment seems suspended, a reminder of the beauty of those simple moments when we savour the warmth of the sun after a cool night. A testimony to the gentle Nepalese way of life.
