This picture shows the famous towers (Torres del Paine) in the Paine mountain range in Patagonia in southern Chile. The Paine massif is part of the Andes mountains in South America and is located in the Torres del Paine national park. The picture was taken during sunrise and the peaks of the steep 3000 meter high towers of the Paine are just lit by the rising sun. The dark mountains contrast beautifully with the lighter pink blue sky. The photo was taken in autumn and the trees on the slopes in the foreground have a brown color. On the higher parts of the mountains some newly fallen snow can still be seen.
