While visiting the Wadden island of Texel, I took this photo of the lighthouse. Standing on the beach, you have a great view of the tower. The red of the tower contrasts beautifully with the white of the sand and the blue of the sky.
Lighthouses are a great subject for me to photograph. During my youth, I sailed a lot and lighthouses were sometimes a "friend on land" to look at for a long time during one of the many sailing trips.
The Eierland lighthouse can be found near the town of De Cocksdorp in the north of the island and was first lit on 1 November 1864.
