It is Saturday night in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. Everywhere, neon letters and moving billboards scream for attention. This is Shibuya, known as the busiest intersection in the world. With no less than five wide pedestrian crossings. Five yes. You can cross from street to street, but also right across the entire intersection.
You expect enormous chaos when the traffic light turns green. The traffic light is green for exactly twenty seconds. Time enough to see more than a thousand people crossing at a time. Each time the traffic light turns green, about 1200 people cross in 20 seconds. Making it an unprecedented anthill at the Shibuya Crossing.
