In the centre of the New Harbour is the training ship Deutschland - a three-master from 1927 and one of the last remaining German sailing training ships. Moored firmly to the quay, it characterises the image of the historic harbour basin, which was once created for emigration and overseas trade. Today, the ship is not only a technical cultural monument, but also a living part of Bremerhaven's maritime heritage - embedded in an environment of museum ships, promenade and harbour history.
