Work based on a photograph taken in a large station hall in Portugal.
The same evening, I had a conversation with friends in which religion and icons came up. Whether I was inspired by this or not is hard to say, but looking at the end result, it seems that icons played a role in the grey matter in the background.
I knew this piece was finished when I sat staring at my screen for a few minutes without being able to think of a single action.
For me, this is a production that reminds me of space, spread arms and warmth.
Blame Dutchie photographs in Portugal. He is attracted to all kinds of subjects; for instance, he has recorded festivals and pop concerts, but he can also regularly be found near discarded buildings. Where others see ugliness, he tries to capture beauty in images.
