Stupas are one of the most recognizable forms of Buddhist architecture, found in the landscape of all Buddhist countries. As with Buddhist temples, their style varies from culture to culture, but the basic structure remains the same. At its simplest, a stupa is an earthen burial mound covered with stone. Often stupas are filled with relics or religious objects and are used as a place of meditation.
