About the artwork

A triton blowing his horn or shell. In the background ships at sea. This print is part of an album.

Triton is a god in Greek mythology. He was a son of Poseidon and Amphitrite and brother to Rhode, Kymopolea and Benthesikyme. Triton, half man, half fish rode the waters with horses and sea monsters and blew on the whooping horn to calm the waves.

In the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, he is the father of the little mermaid.

The guy is on the portrait here with a man's body, naked, so a nude portrait. From his body, legs, buttocks, torso and muscles are exposed on the portrait.

Technique: etching / à la poupée / colour print / handcolouring

All in all a sexy and sensual erotic picture with romance.

Johannes van den Aveele was a printmaker, draughtsman, etcher born on 1655 in Amsterdam, Holland, Netherlands and died on 1727-05-18 in Stockholm, Sweden.
