About ‘True love haiku’ by Karen Kaspar

true love is
showing and sharing
your true colours

Two cats sit next to each other and gaze into the sunset. The cats are depicted as silhouettes, the left cat in darker colours, the right cat in shades of red. The two animals are surrounded by a bright explosion of red, orange and yellow colours. The colourful autumn leaves, illuminated by the autumn sun, fall from the trees and bathe the surroundings in warm colours. The scene conveys a feeling of warmth, peace and love.
Two cats under a colourful sky is a hand-painted watercolour painting in portrait format by the artist Karen Kaspar.

This work, a combination of painting and haiku, is a joint project by Karen Kaspar (© art) and Marjolein Rotsteeg (© Haiku).
A haiku is a traditional Japanese poetic form consisting of three lines.

Here the watercolour painting has been supplemented with the haiku in English. The painting is also available without text (see album 'Cats').

I have been a passionate artist since childhood. I work in traditional painting techniques such as watercolour, acrylic, pastel and drawing with charcoal, pencil and ink. For me, inspiration is everywhere around me. My favourite subjects are flowers, animals (especially cats and birds), landscapes and colourful abstract paintings. I love to create pictures with which I can convey joy and happiness to other people.
