The fruiting bodies of this slime mold discolour from yellow , through black to grey. The yellow phase is particularly photogenic. In this photo, the balls hang under a sort of canopy on a fallen trunk of a pine tree. It is extraordinary to see how nature works and this slime mould is a wonderful example of the hidden treasures in our forests.
The contrast between the yellow of the slime mould and the dark, wet wood makes them stand out beautifully.
I used focus stacking. That is, I took several photos'with just a different focus point. By superimposing those photos in the computer, you get a nice sharp image from front to back.
