About "Tulpen"

About the artwork

Tulp (Tulipa) is een geslacht van eenzaadlobbige planten uit de Leliefamilie (Liliaceae). Tulpen werden in de westelijke wereld geïntroduceerd door de Weense ambassadeur voor Turkije, Ogier Gisleen van Busbeke, die over de bloemen schreef die hij in 1551 in het Turkse Edirne had gezien. Later zond hij enkele zaden ervan naar Oostenrijk.[1]

De aankomst van een vracht tulpenbollen in 1562 in Antwerpen betekende het begin van de Europese tulpenteelt.[1] De eerste gedocumenteerde exemplaren werden door de Vlaming Carolus Clusius geplant in de door hem vanaf 1593 geleide Hortus botanicus Leiden. De bostulp (Tulipa sylvestris) is de enige soort die in Nederland in het wild voorkomt en is ingeburgerd vanaf de 19e eeuw. Het merendeel van de gekweekte vormen van de tulp zijn afgeleid van Tulipa gesneriana.

Ottomaanse sultans droegen een tulp op hun tulband als symbool. De naam tulp is zo afkomstig van het Perzische woord "doelband" (دولبند) dat tulband betekent.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
