About ‘Turquoise Coastline of the Alps’ by Sebastian Stef

A mesmerising, minimalist close-up that captures the boundary between earth and water. The image is dominated by the unnaturally clear, milky turquoise water of a mountain lake, indicating the presence of glacial minerals in the Alps (possibly the Dolomites).

The left side of the picture shows the rugged, grey and rocky shore, overgrown with dark green alpine vegetation and several boulders. Atop a small cliff is a lone dark conifer (probably a larch or pine), beautifully reflected in the mirror-smooth, pale blue water surface. In the foreground, the rich texture of a pine branch protrudes into the shadows, providing depth and contrast to the soft colour of the water. It is a soothing image that shows the pure, dramatic beauty of a high mountain landscape.
