Two skewers in the Namib Desert.
The oryx gazella is an African antelope that occurs in dry regions such as the Kalahari and the Namib Desert. The gemsbok is a kind of oryx from the subfamily of horse antelopes and is also called skewer.
Their fur is sand-brown with a black stripe layer on the flank. The head, ears, belly and legs are contrasting black and white. The tail is black. On their heads they have ringed horns. They have a broad snout, with a large row of incisors, suitable for eating tough grasses.
