An unusual Urbex location, the central power supply of a former flax factory (1906) along the River Lys in Belgium.
In the late 1970s, the associated workshop and engine room (steam boiler and machinery) fell into disuse, the workshop was demolished, but the engine room became architectural heritage and thus protected from demolition in 2009.
The flax factory has been demolished almost entirely, though. It is to make way for a future apartment complex and houses.
The photo shows the steam engine, the transmission wheels and the large electrical fuse box (left).
The Belgian steam engine with horizontal mono-cylinder is the only one of this type still in existence in Belgium.
