Václav Špála (24 August 1885 in Žlunice, Czech Republic - 13 May 1946 in Prague) was a Czech painter, graphic designer and illustrator.
He studied at the Prague Academy. He was a member of the group Tvrdošíjní (The Stubborn) and exhibited with them. At the beginning of his career his work was influenced by Fauvism, later by Cubism. Since 1923 he mainly painted landscapes and still lifes.
Vaclav Spala belongs to the greatest phenomena of Czech modern art. Špála was one of the first artists to be recognized with the title National Artist and received it in 1946.
