Looking down from my balcony to the beach and sea below I can experience the moods and temperaments of the sun, sea and sky. The crash of waves in a storm, the silent swoosh of silky tides under a moonlit sky at night. All part of a coastal life well lived.
Authentic emotion in art cannot be manufactured or simulated. Each painting I create carries feelings that can be felt but never faked - the genuine emotional response to living within one of the world's most distinctive coastal landscapes for twenty-five years.
There's a difference between visiting the Jurassic Coast and living it. While others might capture its dramatic beauty as tourists, I've felt its moods through countless storms, experienced its rhythms through daily practice, understood its character through genuine relationships with farming and fishing communities. This emotional authenticity infuses every brushstroke.
My multi-disciplinary background provides the technical vocabulary, but it's the felt experience that gives my work its irreplaceable signature. The satisfaction of buying vegetables from someone who grew them in soil I recognise, the way morning light reveals the texture of familiar cliffs, the sound of waves that have become the soundtrack to my creative process - these feelings cannot be faked or replicated.
The convergence in my work isn't just technical; it's deeply emotional.
This work in the strong colours of blue, yellow, red and green will transport you into the moods of my coast.
Enjoy!
