About "View of the Berlin Spree from the Jannowitz Bridge"

by Silva Wischeropp

About the artwork

Photographing from the Jannowitzbrücke offers a fantastic and radiant view of the Berlin Spree with the 3 office buildings and the S-Bahn bridge. The window arches with the old storage rooms underneath are also charming. The sunny summer light and the cloudy sky give the motif an uplifting, exciting mood and sculptural effect. Trias (also: Trias Towers Berlin) is a tripartite building complex on the north bank of the Spree in Berlin's Mitte district of the same name, situated between Michaelbrücke and Jannowitzbrücke. It was designed by the architects Lucia Beringer and Gunther Wawrik between 1992 and 1996 as a symbolic gateway to the East for Berlin's inner city.
The building block along Holzmarktstraße features three distinctive individual buildings arranged in a rounded V-shape. These are each 13 storeys (44 metres) high and connected to each other by a six-storey plinth. The ground floor zone of the connecting building, with 33,000 m² of space, is designed as a pedestrian area together with refurbished and extended S-Bahn arches and offers space for shops and service providers. The roof areas of the base are designed as "green oases" for the users and visitors of the Trias. For the visitor, a walk along the Spree is always very rewarding and offers interesting urban landscapes with unusual and varied nature and architecture.
