About ‘View through autumn forest’ by Sjoerd van Staveren

A dirt road in a forest leads to a sunlit spot in the woods. The path lies under a vault of tree branches. At the light spot is a post with an arrow on it pointing left to indicate a walking route.

The photo was taken in late autumn in a forest on the edge of the Schuitwater nature reserve near Broekhuizen in northern Limburg.

The atmosphere is warm and fairytale-like. The autumn colours are still clearly visible although the bare branches already herald the onset of winter.

The photo has been post-processed. The warm colours are a result of adjusting the white balance and colour saturation. The central part of the photo has been slightly lightened using a mask and the edges have been softened a little using vignetting.

I was born in Amsterdam in 1953. Because of my work, I lived in several places and finally settled down in Swolgen in Limburg with my family. Now that I am retired, I have taken up an old hobby again: photography. Digitally this time. Here you will find photos I took with a Canon SLR camera and edited with ON1 photo RAW. This software contains some AI tools but I use them as little as possible.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
