Volcán de Fuego is the most active volcano in Central America and one of the most active in the world.
Its eruptions are impressive and can be violent. The volcano has an altitude of 3763 meters. Above 1300 meters, it is practically barren of vegetation, where basically only lava can be found. This hardened lava is often still hot from previous eruptions and creates a lot of fumes, which, with beautiful sunshine, produces spectacular images.
The photo shows an artificial mountain in which the flag of Guatemala hangs. The flag of Guatemala contains three vertical stripes in the successive colors of sky blue, white and sky blue. In the center of the flag is the coat of arms of Guatemala. The two blue stripes represent the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean/Caribbean Sea between which Guatemala lies. The white stripe represents the country lying between the two oceans and also symbolizes the purity of the country's values.
In the center of the flag is the coat of arms of Guatemala. This contains the date September 15, 1821, the date of Central America's independence from Spain. In addition, this coat of arms contains two crossed rifles, indicating Guatemala's readiness to defend itself if necessary. Furthermore, olive branches are the symbol of peace. Finally, it depicts a wreath and a quetzal bird, symbols of freedom.
