About ‘Volkswagen Karmann Ghia’ by Ton van Buuren

In Rothenburg ob der Tauber, along the Romantic Road, I came across this beautiful Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. I had to wait a while for the other admirers to leave, but then I was able to take this picture. I also have the black and white version in my shop. Then the photo also matches the interior if sports car red is too red for you.

I came this close to not being involved in photography. My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic, with the biggest parallax error you could wish for! So I always had pictures of people without heads. I used these cassettes with 12 or 24 photos, black and white (that was cheaper than colour!). I was advised to be economical with this material. I only took a picture if I was sure it was worth it. Later, when I had a reflex camera, I used slides (cheaper indeed!). They have to…
