A car as durable as crispbread!
Thick sheet metal, safety belt as standard: the humpback Volvo laid the foundation for the good reputation that Volvo still enjoys today as a manufacturer of robust and safe family carriages.
Officially, the series developed from 1942 was called PV 444. The type designation stood for "Personvagn", for four-seater and for the presentation year 1944. While elsewhere in Europe the Second World War was still being fought at that time, the neutral Swedes were already working and building a car for the post-war period.
