About ‘W06, half-life’ by Niklas Steffen

A black-and-white portrait with extreme contrast. The face is divided into two halves, one side clearly illuminated, the other submerged in shadow. Only at second glance do the subtle transitions in the skin and the precise edge of light become apparent, as well as the calm, almost sculptural modelling of the lips, nose and eyes. The figure appears to be cut out of the space, staged not by props but only by light.

The atmosphere is quiet, austere, concentrated. It feels cool, but not distant, more like a quiet room where every detail takes on meaning.

For me, the work is a study of visibility. What lies in the light becomes legible, what lies in the shadows remains a projection. It is about reduction, not drama; the tension arises from what is deliberately left unexplained.

W06 functions as a clear graphic statement, especially in modern, minimalist spaces. The strong contrast gives a wall structure without the need for colour. It is well suited to rooms that need to be calm and clear, but can still tolerate a striking edge, for example in a hallway, work area or as a single focal point in the living room.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
