The mudflats near Koehool in Friesland. Koehool is a hamlet in the municipality of Waadhoeke, in the Dutch province of Friesland. It lies on the Wadden Sea north of Tzummarum and west of Dijkshoek and Westhoek.

Sometime in 1980 Jan bought his first SLR camera and since that time a camera has always been at his fingertips. His varied work ranges from snapshots of people in his immediate surroundings to landscape, macro and bird photography. He is also the regular photographer of his wife's ballet school and thus regularly at work in the theater.
