About ‘Walk the water’ by Theo Bauhuis

The Vragenderveen is an Achterhoek stretch of raised bog. That raised bog is a very extreme environment where only the plants that have really specialised in it survive. For me, this photo symbolises those rough and extreme conditions. Lots of water, ruggedness and heavy air.
The Vragenderveen has no established hiking trails , but is only accessible with a guide who knows the way well. This image was made on one such route that the guides walk. This route goes over a pit of former peat extraction that has grown over at the top with a still fairly thin layer of planting.

The water itself is the route and hence the title: you have to walk over water to stay dry. A contradiction many excursion participants struggle with, but it is very simple. Where the route is passable, the vegetation has been flattened and a small area has disappeared under water. To the left and right, the layer of vegetation is too thin and therefore cannot be walked on. Walk on water, to keep your feet dry.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
