Reichtag, Berlin
This transparent dome stands at the centre of the roof of the Reichtag and was designed by architect sir Norman Foster. From the roof of the building, one can see through this dome the floor of the main floor and thus the sitting parliament. Its transparency is, as it were, a metaphor for how democracy works.
The mirrored funnel is a metaphor for a speaker in which everything spoken about in the Reichstag is shared directly with society outside the building.
Special what is shown here is the staircase constructed in a double helix. The panel behind the figures rotates with the sun, making a 360-degree rotation in 24 hours.
