Warm brown tones in the kitchen: Star anise by Marjolijn van den Berg

"Warm brown tones in the kitchen: Star anise" is a macro photograph of a collection of star anise. The beautiful shape of the star anise is repeated many times in the photo, but one star anise really stands out, in my opinion. It is the star anise situated just to the right of centre. Here you can see the lovely orange-brown seeds set beautifully within the star anise. Most of the other star anise pods are still slightly more closed than this one.
This work has a natural, warm feel to it, which reminds me of autumn and winter. This photograph is part of the series "In the Kitchen", in which various vegetables, herbs and mushrooms have been photographed (mainly using macro photography).
The simplicity of this photograph, with its repetition of shapes, lends the work a sense of calm. The brown tones contribute to this, partly because they create a natural feel.
Thanks to the simplicity and tranquillity of this photograph, it would look excellent in a rustic or modern interior, for example. This piece would look stunning as wall art in the kitchen on an ArtFrame above the worktop, as wallpaper in the hall to create a beautiful entrance, or in the dining room on aluminium, for instance! It would also look lovely on the wall in a restaurant or bistro (commercial).
