Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.

About ‘Washed ashore’ by Atelier Connie Kindermann

Oil on panel

A blue jellyfish is floating on the North Sea beach at Terschelling, resting against a length of orange ship’s rope. The orange contrasts beautifully with the blue, transparent body. Together, they have been washed ashore by the still-visible, light-reflecting surf. The white, transparent eyes appear to consist of bubbles or vesicles; the tentacles seem to be idly retracted.
Through the transparent blue, sometimes violet outer layer, an inner layer is visible, an indefinable interplay of light and dark.
The surf has created tiny bubbles of foam, beneath which a bit of sand has been washed away, leaving a small hollow. Here, a second piece of rope disappears beneath the surface. Although the jellyfish and the rope have been washed ashore, they still seem to be swaying with the ebb and flow of the surf.

My walks on the beach are often full of wonderful scenes. Objects, animals, patterns in the sand – there’s always plenty to see and photograph. I often incorporate these photos's into my paintings.
This jellyfish was impressively large and, to me, fantastically coloured and transparent.
